Art

These are some of the pieces that I have been working on in the last two years. There is no conscious effort on my part to try to imitate any style or technique but if forced to categorize my artistic style, I would state there is an expressionistic streak running through all of my work. My work is in no way abstract, taking directly from what is before my eyes, in my dreams, or in newspapers, etc. However, a view of my pieces of art would make it obvious that the original impetus for a piece of work was merely a starting point for this work. I take directly from an idea or image, but then proceed in different directions at different times.

Series I

I have two main series of artwork on this website. The first series of drawings deal with squirrels. I have drawn squirrels in both their natural habitat and also through the power of anthropomorphicology (placing human feelings, thoughts, and articles of clothing on animals, i.e. dog playing poker), I have drawn squirrels in life embracing vignettes. No apologies offered here. There is thought of taking this series to a different place, using large canvases and moving into the oil medium.

Series II

The second series of drawings is based on dreams or manufactured memories of speakeasies that are on the highways of rustbelt cities. These speakeasies are inhabited by women of all ages for whom one drink is not an option. Of course, these drawings also contain ideas that can be expanded upon utilizing larger canvases.

Miscellaneous

Included on this website are drawings of interior and exterior landscapes that have inspired me. A few of these landscapes include a person or two, specifically my drawing called "Settee." Settee is based on a dream sequence of a trip to Mykonos, Greece.
